Chuck Mansfield grew up working in the fields with his father, who is a stone fruit farmer and grape grower in El Dorado County. While working for his father, he met David Di Loreto when he was delivering grapes for Di Loreto’s Per Sempre label. Di Loreto introduced a young Chuck to the complex and fascinating nuances of the art of winemaking and a friendship was born.
Chuck went on to graduate from Cal Poly with a Wine and Viticulture major. After an internship in Australia, and a stint at Gallo, he joined Hop Kiln Winery as head winemaker in 2007. He received favorable press and high scores from the likes of the Wine Spectator and the Pinot Report right out of the gate, and a steady stream of accolades has followed, making the future look bright for both Chuck and the HKG Estate Wines label.
In his downtime, Chuck enjoys flying, basketball, and snowboarding.
